Bath’s Jane Austen Festival Grand Regency Costumed Promenade

Anybody visiting Bath may have thought they had been transported back to the early nineteenth century earlier this month, when hundreds of people dressed in Regency Costume for the official opening of this year’s Jane Austen Festival, organised by Bath’s Jane Austen Centre.

Departing, with kind permission of the residents, from Royal Crescent lawn, accompanied by red coats and navy officers and led by Bath’s own town crier and drums, the promenade lasted about 90 minues and ended in Parade Gardens near Bath Abbey.
