Bath In Fashion 2013: Celebrities design bags for online charity auction

British Bagmaker’s pop up manufacturing display during Bath in Fashion 2013 has created one-of-a-kind bags designed by famous names and fashion celebrities.  Join the bidding for a one off handbag designed by one of the world’s most famous milliners, Stephen Jones; Interior Designer, Nina Campbell ; Olympic Gold Medallist, Amy Williams; super model Jade Parfitt; or Bath based fashion journalist and commentator, Iain R Webb.

Following the success of the Dyson Centre for Neonatal Care, The Forever Friends Appeal at the Royal United Hospital has recently launched their two phase Cancer Care Campaign.  The first phase is now complete with a state-of-the-art Gamma-CT Scanner in situ, to assist in the diagnosis of cancer and other diseases.  Phase 2 of the campaign is to fund a new £20 million Cancer Centre in partnership with the RUH – with the Appeal pledging to raise a minimum of £5 million.

British Bagmaker’s pop up manufacturing display during Bath in Fashion 2013 has created 5 different one-of-a-kind bags designed by famous names and fashion celebrities. These bags are to be auctioned online with all proceeds going to the Forever Friends Appeal’s Cancer Care Campaign.

  • Milliner Stephen Jones, arguably the world’s most iconic hat designer, turns his talent to bag making for Bath in Fashion. Stephen is recognised throughout the world as an extremely talented milliner and maker of beautiful hats. He is currently working with such a-listers as Marilyn Manson, Pink, Gwen Stefani, Beyonce Knowles and Alison Goldfrapp.
  • Award winning interior designer Nina Campbell has been awarded the Royal Oak Timeless Design Award and the American Fashion Award for ‘the woman who has most influenced style internationally’. This fame and esteem are the result of a talent with design which is almost unmatched and the bag Nina Campbell has designed is an exquisite reminder of that.
  • Iain R Webb is an award winning fashion writer and professor of fashion at Royal College of Art and Central Saint Martins. During his career he has been fashion editor/director of Blitz, The Evening Standard, The Times and Elle to name but a few. All of this experience means his bag is the perfect fashion accessory. Iain will also be speaking at Bath in Fashion 2013 in conversation with Princess Julia discussing 80s fashions in theme with his new book ‘As Seen in Blitz: Fashioning 80s Style.’
  • Bath’s very own gold medal winning Olympian Amy Williams has also designed a unique leather bag. Famed for her skeleton racing abilities and winning Gold at the Winter Olympics 2010, Amy Williams has designed a bag in British flag colours blue, red and white which is both functional and fashionable.
  • Jade Parfitt found fame as a supermodel, renowned for her long legs and catlike eyes, but now you may be familiar with her being a presenter on Vogue TV. Jade is also no stranger to charity work; her love of fashion helped her to create Clothesline a charity which helps HIV and AIDS sufferers in Sub-Saharan Africa. Now Jade has put her fashion expertise to practise and has designed a unique and luxurious leather handbag for the auction.

The online auction will be taking place in May so keep an eye out to grab a unique handbag for a fantastic cause.
